Safe zones Instagram Reels

Instagram Reels safe zone

Keep text and logos at least 269 px from the top, 672 px from the bottom, 65 px from the left and 65 px from the right of a 1080×1920 Instagram Reels video. Checked 23 October 2026.

Instagram publishes a safe zone for Reels ads only. For organic Reels nothing is published, so we use the ad numbers as the conservative proxy.

Where sources disagree

Community guides put the organic Reels zone anywhere from 108 to 250 px at the top, 300 to 672 px at the bottom and 60 to 120 px at the sides. We use the Meta ad values for both placements because they are the strictest that any source attributes to Meta. Four independent sites quote the same ad numbers; Meta’s own Ads Guide page could not be fetched, which is why confidence is medium, not high. If your ad carries a legal disclaimer, keep the bottom 40% clear.

Quick answers

Is the Reels safe zone different for ads?

The published numbers are the ad numbers. Organic Reels show the same caption, rail and top bar, so the same zone is the safe choice for both.

Does the right-hand rail cover the safe zone?

On a current iPhone, the like and comment buttons sit inside the rectangle that the published numbers call safe. Super Guides draws the measured rail corner out of the zone, so the safe area is an L, not a box.

Which canvas size should I edit at?

Meta recommends 1080×1920 or larger. The fractions below hold at any 9:16 size; the table shows the pixels at three common ones.
